Making raw dog food is not the easiest or a fun job, but the great benefits for your dog will out weigh the mess.  Yes we would like you to buy our Barxx raw dog food, but if you have the time, this option maybe the best idea for you.

This recipe is a general guide. Because you have a wide variety of meats and vegetables here to choose from, you can rotate menus . This will provide your dog with a huge amount of health benefits such as increased energy, a healthy digestive and immune system, cleaner teeth and gums, healthier skin and coat and smoother stool.

The best balances is 75% meat 25% Veggies

75% - 6 ounces (3/4 cup) coarse-ground or chopped raw meat. A variety of meats, and poultry should be rotated: Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Turkey, Rabbit, Venison and their organ meats:(liver, heart, tongue, gizzards, tripe)   No pork or fish (for safety reasons)! Coarse-ground bones or 4 tablespoons of bone meal.

25% - 2 ounces (1/4 cup) ground, mixed raw vegetables.  Any and all of the following vegetables can be used. The more veggies you combine in one meal the better. Feed what’s in season like we do. Asparagus, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Chicory, Green Beans, Greens, Dandelion, Kale, Swiss Chard, Parsley), Kohlrabi, Okra, Parsnips, Peas, Pumpkin, Sprouts, (Alfalfa, Bean, Sunflower), Squash (Winter and Summer), Sweet Potatoes, Yams, Turnips, Rutabagas.

Optional Special Ingredients: (Small amount):  Whole eggs (including shell) Alfalfa, Kelp, Barley or Wheat Grass, Garlic, Chlorella,  Apples, Pears, Bananas, Parsley, Nettles, Walnuts, Almonds, Sunflower seeds.

Now add 2 ounces (1/4 cup) purified water (especially if you are going to freeze.) Add supplements if needed.

All vegetables must be put through a food processor or blender or chopped finely to be broken down to bite size chunks. Dogs do not digest large pieces of vegetables easily. Mix ground meat and chopped vegetables thoroughly together.   I would make a large amount of raw dog food at one time and freeze it all.

  • frozen should keep for about 1 year.

If you like making your own, we would suggest you purchase a grinder with a coarse plate and grind all the meat, bones and veggies together, or to make your life easier we do sale Barxx Dog Food in 2# tubes too.
